Amon Göth, commander of the adjacent Kraków-Paszów concentration camp in Poland, was persuaded by Schindler to grant him permission to relocate his production to Brünnlitz in the Sudetenland, thus saving his employees from certain death in the gas chambers. According to the names given by Jewish Ghetto Police officer Marcel Goldberg, Göth’s assistant Mietek Pemper prepared and typed the list of 1,200 Jews who travelled to Brünnlitz in October 1944, using information provided by Goldberg. Even after World War II ended in Europe in May 1945, Schindler continued to pay SS authorities in order to save his employees from being slaughtered. By that point, he had spent the whole of his wealth on bribes and black-market purchases of supplies for his workers.
