Bill Belichick was brought up in Annapolis, Maryland, where his father served as the United States Naval Academy’s assistant football coach. According to Belichick, one of his most significant football instructors is his father, with whom he frequently studied the game. At an early age, Bill Belichick apparently observed his father and the Navy staff at work and picked up the skill of dissecting video game footage. Belichick graduated from Annapolis High School in 1970 along with Sally Brice O-Hara. While there, Belichick participated in both football and lacrosse, the latter of which was his preferred sport. In order to raise his grades and test results and gain admission to a reputable college, he enrolled in Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts, for a postgraduate year.
