Adele has won her first Emmy, scooping up the honour for a TV concert special that was televised prior to the release of her current album.
The Emmy for most outstanding variety special (pre-recorded) went to One Night Only at the Creative Emmy Awards on Sunday night, which were awarded ahead of the main Primetime Emmys presentation next week.
This win actually adds to the singer’s 15 Grammy wins and her Oscar for the James Bond theme Skyfall. Now she simply has to get engaged in Broadway theatre to be in with a chance of winning the EGOT – a tall order for most, but this is Adele we’re talking about.
Performers with EGOT status have won all four major entertainment awards: an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar, and a Tony.
Adele praised producer Ben Winston for delivering the award to her on social media with the caption, “Bloody hell I’m delighted as punch!” Thank you for sending this round off to me this afternoon, @mrbenwinston!!
